Our Sawyer Filter Water Purifier Bucket Adapter Kit system we setup while in Nicaragua. At first we just had the top bucket, and hooked the filter onto a cupboard handle and it drained into a pitcher, but we got this system setup and it worked real nice. We brought 3 of them and gave them all away by the time we left. But we used this system the whole time for all our drinking water. We used the 2 bucket system because I like how it works, easy to clean, store, move, etc. We used tap water the whole time, its clean, and they might even treat it a little (smelled bleachy some days) but if you drink it you get diarrhea (well us white folks do.)

Heres the system we really like.

- Get 2 buckets
- Install the out take hose connector in bucket #1 about 1 inch above the bottom of the bucket. (Allows for settlement of crap in the water.)
- Install the tap in the bottom bucket right near the bottom of it.
- Connect filter and hoses
- you may need to backwash the filter right away, to get it to work much at all. Also it starts to work after its filtered a bit of water.

If it looks like its not filtering fast enough, backwash it with filtered water. Even if you have just recently done it,. I did it every few days with very clean water.
