I really wanted a 3 axis gimbal for my DSLR camera but they are way too expensive. Also they dont look that great with the carbon tubes braced by carbon sheets with millions of bolts everywhere. Also the balancing adjustment mechanisms on most of the shelf gimbals look extremely cumbersome and difficult. For all these reasons, I decided to build one.
Not an easy assignment as they are pretty complicated. They need to be precisely balanced on 3 axis. I have some threaded balancing concepts in my head and I'll see if they pan out. I am using carbon fibre over a balsa frame. I also have titanium nuts and bolts which I will also use. Part 1 of this build highlights the build method of the main 'U' arm. Cheers.
