Ama Dablam, located in the Everest region of Nepal, stands at 6,812 meters (22,349 feet) tall and is renowned for its distinctive pyramid shape. The name "Ama Dablam" translates to "Mother's Necklace," reflecting the mountain's steep ridges and hanging glacier, which resembles a traditional double-pendant necklace worn by Sherpa women.
I took this video while climbing the Mushroom Ridge on Ama Dablam. This is tough, narrow, winding crest that connects the Grey Couloir to camp 3. It's a snow-covered ridge that links the mixed southwest ridge below to the snowy fields near the summit. The last part of the ridge is a mostly flat path across snow edges that are delicately balanced on a narrow ridge.
