A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the GRACE-FO/Iridium-6 Mission from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, on 22 May 2018, at 19:47 UTC (12:47 PDT). Falcon 9’s first stage for this mission previously supported the Zuma mission and was not recovered after launch. GRACE-FO, the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow-On mission, is a partnership between NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) for tracking the movement of Earth’s mass. The twin GRACE-FO satellites were built by Airbus Defence and Space.
