Trapezius
Origins
Upper: External occipital proturberance, medial third of superior nuchal line, ligamentum nuchae and spinous process C7.
Middle: Spinous processes T1 - T5.
Lower: Spinous processes T6 - T12.
Insertions
Upper: Lateral third of clavicle and medial aspect of acromion process.
Middle: Medial edge of superior surface of acromion process and superior edge of scapular spine.
Lower: Tubercles of apex of scapular spine.
Concentric Actions:
Upper: Upward rotation and elevation of scapula.
Middle: Retraction of scapula.
Lower: Upward rotation, depression and retraction of scapula.
Innervation: Spinal Accessory Nerve (Cranial XI) and Ventral rami of C2-C4.
