The current system of government practiced in Nigeria is that which allows three major administrative order - the federal government the state government and the local government structure .
Criticisms have also trailed the arrangement in view of certain issues like sharing formula and developmental concerns. Perhaps the strong knocks have been for the local council structure , regarded as the third tier of government .
Often, the excuse has been the seemingly low profile of performance traced to them.
Rather than keep fund local governments, some argue that they be scrapped completely. So we ask the question, should that call be attended to or having agreed that they are not in the form of their life rather ask for a re engineering?
