10% of water quality samples collected last year from nearly 3,500 coastal and Great Lakes beaches across the nation failed to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's new benchmark for swimmer safety. That means far too many beaches had troubling levels of bacteria too often last summer. Americans need the Obama Administration to finalize the EPA's Clean Water Protection Rule -- a move that would fully protect nearly 2 million miles of streams and millions of acres of wetlands from pollution. Streams and rivers ultimately flow to our beaches—and wetlands are critical pollution filters—so keeping them all clean can help make it safer to swim in our oceans and lakes. This critical federal proposal is up for public comment now until October 20. Beach lovers should voice their support for this action now at [ Ссылка ].
