Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and its sequel are known for their humor, visual effects, and action. However, perhaps what surprised the audience the most are those 60s and 70s semi-familiar tunes that are always playing on the radio. Indeed, these songs were handpicked by Director James Gunn, and they are vital to the plot and the characters, especially for the movie’s goofy main character Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, who was abducted from planet Earth as a child with only a Walkman (from which these songs would be played). Collaborating with Tyler Bates, who wrote the rest of the score, Gunn said that these songs were meant to serve as the connection to home and childhood for Star-Lord. In fact, the whole story can even be described by the lyrics.
The arrangement, which is a medley of songs from the film, aims to tell a story. If you had to put together a playlist for your life, what would you pick?
