When it comes to fly tying, Howard Croston is always thinking outside of the box and trying new things. Not only that, but he spends loads of time on the water, so he's able to refine and perfect them as he goes. As a result, he comes up with some incredibly creative bugs that are fish catching machines. His Full Metal Jacket is no exception.
An excellent mayfly imitation, the Full Metal Jacket is a fast-sinking euro nymphing that uses some unique bead fixing methods. The contrast of the slender body that uses our turkey biot, and the buggy collar, which uses our Eco Warrior Dubbing, gives it a very realistic profile in the water. Whether used on a euro nymphing setup, fishing dry dropper, or indicator nymph fishing, this is a fly we always have in our fly box.
Howard Croston is a World Fly Fishing Champion (2019) and member of the English International Fly Fishing team. He’s also the Global Brand and Product Manager at Hardy. As one of our Signature Tiers Howard is constantly innovating new flies, and has many proven trout fly patterns in our collection.
