JULY 13, 2024
First Reading: Isaiah 6: 1-8
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 93: 1ab, 1cd-2, 5
Alleluia: First Peter 4: 14
Gospel: Matthew 10: 24-33
The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
First Reading: Isaiah 6: 1-8
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was sitting on his throne, high and exalted, and his robe filled the whole Temple. Around him flaming creatures were standing, each of which had six wings. Each creature covered its face with two wings, and its body with two, and used the other two for flying. They were calling out to each other: Holy, holy, holy! The LORD Almighty is holy! His glory fills the world. The sound of their voices made the foundation of the Temple shake, and the Temple itself became filled with smoke. I said, There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with my own eyes I have seen the King, the LORD Almighty. Then one of the creatures flew down to me, carrying a burning coal that he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with the burning coal and said, This has touched your lips, and now your guilt is gone, and your sins are forgiven. Then I heard the Lord say, Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger? I answered, I will go! Send me!
THE WORD OF GOD. THANKS BE TO GOD.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 93: 1ab, 1cd-2, 5
Our Response. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
The Lord hath reigned, he is clothed with beauty: the Lord is clothed with strength, and hath girded himself.
Our Response. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
For he hath established the world which shall not be moved.
Thy throne is prepared from of old: thou art from everlasting.
Our Response. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
Thy testimonies are become exceedingly credible: holiness becometh thy house, O Lord, unto length of days.
Our Response. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
Gospel: Matthew 10: 24-33
No pupil is greater than his teacher; no slave is greater than his master. So a pupil should be satisfied to become like his teacher, and a slave like his master. If the head of the family is called Beelzebul, the members of the family will be called even worse names! So do not be afraid of people. Whatever is now covered up will be uncovered, and every secret will be made known. What I am telling you in the dark you must repeat in broad daylight, and what you have heard in private you must announce from the housetops. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell. For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father's consent. As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows! Those who declare publicly that they belong to me, I will do the same for them before my Father in heaven. But those who reject me publicly, I will reject before my Father in heaven.
THE GOSPLE OF THE LORD . PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.
