Catholic Social Teaching compels us to live life abundantly and to give life to the poor and vulnerable. Giving life, says St. Agnes pastor Rev. Frederick Edlefsen, is more than just avoiding homicide or death. At a September 12 panel discussion, Catholic Social Teaching and Immigration, Fr. Edlefsen urged listeners to go beyond questions of prudential judgment when vulnerable people are at stake to embrace the "bold proclamation of what Jesus Christ commanded us to do by virtue of our Baptism."
On Wednesday, September 12, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington hosted a Catholic Social Teaching and immigration panel. Speakers included Rev. Frederick Edlefsen, pastor at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Jeff Caruso, Executive Director of the Virginia Catholic Conference, Gregory McKinney, Associate Director of Community Engagement for Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services, and Ashley Feasley, Director of Migration Policy and Public Affairs at the USCCB.
