THE TREE
The ship sails away to foreign lands
And the daughter parting from the one she loves
From the shore with tears she bids him farewell
She gives him a heavy promise that even if months pass
And the months will be years, she'll wait for him
And while the ship is lost, she's not moving
She sits on the shore to hold her oath
The months have passed and the months have become years
And the daughter still waits by the waves
Feet have grown roots and hugged the earth
Her arms grew into proper branches
Birds fly over her to build their nests
And cheerfully she asks them if they have seen the one she loves
We saw him in a foreign land with another man
He's forgotten you and is embracing someone else
Immediately the tree is upset
He throws down his nests, the leaves turn yellow
Αfter days have gone by, other birds appear
And the tree asked them about the one who was waiting
In the sea we saw him on a ship
With all sails wide open, eager to return
The tree makes arms and welcomes them
And every time he asked them if they'd seen him
The winds and waves in the sea beat him
But he doesn't close the sails, he's too busy to turn back
