Greenpeace has brought together Karli Thomas from Deep Sea Conservation Coalition, marine scientist Kat Goddard, and presenter Mandy Kupenga (Get Your Fish On) to share an important message to ban bottom trawling on seamounts.
Seamounts are biodiversity hotspots. They are the underwater hills and mountains home to slow growing corals and sponges that form habitats for marine life.
Right now, the Government is considering high seas permit applications for the next fishing year, 2022 - 2023. We call on the head of MPI, Ray Smith, to deny permits to New Zealand bottom trawlers for the South Pacific. [ Ссылка ]
