The evolving approach of African insurers and regulators

One of the biggest implications of Covid-19 on Africa’s insurance sector has been the rapid digitalisation of the insurance value chain. A recent survey that we carried out with OESAI and Cenfri, it illustrated that 66% of respondents have digested aspects of the value chain as a result of Covid-19. In the first webinar of this series in April, we discussed the immediate challenges and opportunities of the Covid-19 crisis with respect to the digitisation of the insurance value chain. In this next webinar, we will delve into more depth to understand the process and prerequisites for providers to digitise two key parts of the value chain: Sales and claims. In this discussion, we will consider both the regulatory requirements and barriers and how providers have gone about adapting their systems, both internally and through partnership, in particular with insurtechs.
