Located about twenty kilometers from the main airport of Crete, Hersonissos is the most famous seaside resort on the island. The lively center of the city is concentrated enough to easily walk from places to places.
There are many bars and clubs near the waterfront (the Palm Beach Club, the Club Sensation or the Tiger Club for example). The must-see of the destination, day or night is the Star Beach Water Park. As the name suggests, it's a big water park with water slides (for a fee) as well as a stage and world-class DJs performing every afternoon and foam parties. You can also try bungee jumping, buoys towed by a boat, in short, good times in perspective!
Tip: Access to the water park is free although the animations / foam parties are charged. You can go in and enjoy the sound and atmosphere without necessarily having to pay. We advise you to first try the place before buying the entry pass. The pool parties take place between the beginning of July and the end of August.
On site you can also treat yourself for a horseback ride, rent quads, scooters or take a hike (be careful: the driving is slightly different in Crete, remember to get information). You can also go on bike tours, 4x4 safaris and see archaeological sites.
Regarding food and restaurants, there is something for every budget and all cuisines are available. Between the restaurants serving typical Cretan cuisine and the city's steak house, taverns, pizzerias, English pubs and local fast food, everyone will be happy. Consider looking at restaurant reviews in advance to find the best option for you!
