The Council will aim to reach an agreement on the 2023 EU budget with the European Parliament. The Council started 09:30am in public deliberation and prepare the meeting of the Conciliation Committee.
In July, the Council agreed its position on the EU budget 2023. In order to establish the EU’s annual budget, Article 314 TFEU foresees a conciliation procedure of 21 days. During this period, the European Parliament and the Council, with the help of the Commission, should reach an agreement on a draft joint text concerning the budget of the following year. This year, the conciliation procedure takes place from 25 October till 14 November.
