France's baguettes have been inscribed on
UNESCO's Representative List of the
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity...
specifically the "artisanal know-how
and culture of baguette bread."
The unique taste, smells, sounds, and rituals of
"Intangible Cultural Heritage" bring communities together...
inspire us to travel...
and connect the past with the present.
Several of UNESCO's new entries are related to
food and drink, including harissa in Tunisia...
traditional tea processing techniques and
social practices in China...
and knowledge and practices related to cultivating
Khawlani coffee beans in Saudi Arabia.
The new additions to UNESCO's list also celebrated traditional arts like Hungarian string music and Kalela dance in Zambia.
With increasing globalization,
we need to preserve cultural diversity and
pass important traditions along to the next generation.
