This area is know as Pat's Island in Ocala. Named after the postmaster Patrick Smith who established a homestead here in 1840. It is also near the Yearling Trail and is in the northern parts of Juniper Prairie Wilderness.
You can hike The Florida Trail in this area northwards towards Hopkins Prairie or go south into Juniper Prairie.
