A Texas woman is facing murder charges for allegedly giving fentanyl-laced pills to her boyfriend that resulted in his fatal overdose even though she may have thought she was only giving him Xanax. She turned herself in on Feb. 12 after police obtained an arrest warrant for murder amid a new Texas law that classifies the supplying of any fentanyl that results in death as murder. However, her arrest raises questions about this new law's application.
A legal panel reacts to the murder charge and whether the woman deserves to possibly serve life in prison on this murder charge. NewsNation's Misty Marris says this law "basically makes anybody who overdoses a murder victim."
