Это не любовь (It's Not Love) is the third studio album by KINO, initially supposed to be the fourth. In mid-1985, the band stopped work on the album The Night due to unexpected repairs in the studio. Meanwhile, the guys headed to audio engineer Vishnya's. The engineer didn't mind them fooling around, drinking tea, and smoking in his apartment during the recording session, so it fostered a great creative atmosphere. "The studio conditions were that we had no choice but three guitars and a drum machine, no other parts except for one thing. It was depressing at first, but during the work we had grown to like it, and towards the end of the recording, we, one can say, were even aiming for that sound," lead singer Tsoi later said. The band enjoyed the album very much because it exceeded all of their expectations. But some fellow musicians didn't take it seriously and even criticized Tsoi a lot for imitating Morrissey. Titov, the bassist, could no longer play in two bands and had to choose one to stay in. His leaving upset the guys, especially Tsoi, who had a lot of respect for him as a brilliant musician.
