Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger gave an interview with Xinhua ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the United States.
Kissinger expressed optimism that the two sides could chalk up major achievements during Xi's visit.
He says China and the United States should explore further cooperation on climate change, curbing proliferation of weapons of mass desctruction and fighting terrorism.
Kissinger believes the upcoming visit will help bridge the differences between the two sides.
