Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies for a Smart Women, Smart Power conversation with Valerie Jarrett, board chair of When We All Vote and co-chair of The United State of Women. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote, she will discuss the importance of political participation, her efforts to encourage young people to vote, and her New York Times bestselling memoir, “Finding My Voice: When the Perfect Plan Crumbles, the Adventure Begins.”
Ms. Jarrett was the longest serving senior adviser to President Barack Obama. She oversaw the Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and served as chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls. She also led the administration’s advocacy for workplace policies that empower working families, including equal pay, paid leave, and affordable childcare.
Prior to the White House, Ms. Jarrett served as CEO of The Habitat Company, chairman of the Chicago Transit Board, and deputy chief of staff for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Ms. Jarrett received her B.A. from Stanford University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
