6th Prague Populism Conference will start with an opening public debate focusing on populism and populist parties in Central Europe during the pandemic. It´s imporant to look at how these parties adapted their narratives during covid situation, if there is a new focus in their programmes and if they have changed their approach towards liberal democratic values.
The event is organized by Goethe-Institut Prague, Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University, and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Prague.

Paula Diehl is professor for political theory and history of thought at Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität). She was visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania (2014-2016) and Dilthey Fellow of the Volkswagen Foundation (2012-2016). Her focus areas are political theory, political cultural studies as well as populism and national socialism.
Viera Žúborová is a political scientist by background. She focuses her interests on issues of populism, extremism, civil society, intolerance, hate speech. She obtained her PhD at Olomouc University in Czech Republic. In 2017 she was scholar-in-residence in the ISGAP at Oxford University and in 2010 visiting PhD scholar at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. From 2018 - 2020 she is working as an expert and member of the working group “Civil society” under the Office of Government Representative for Civic Society. Currently she is also affiliated with the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, as research fellow.
Ondřej Císař is Czech political scientist and researcher in sociology. He is a Professor in Political Science and currently he teaches at the Institute of Sociological Studies at Charles University. He also works at the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences where he is an editor-in-chief of the Czech Sociological Journal. His field of specializations are political activism, social movements, political theory and methodology of social sciences.
