The world rejoiced when World War II finally came to an end in 1945. But unfortunately, some soldiers didn't get the memo. For decades after World War II, there were several Japanese holdout soldiers who remained in hiding on different islands, continuing to fight for their country and refusing to give up. These are the stories of the last three soldiers to surrender after World War II: Shoichi Yokoi, Hiroo Onoda, and Teruo Nakamura. Needless to say, each of them has a pretty sad story, if only for the fact that they missed the opportunity to see "The Sound of Music" in theaters. But allow this video to be a tribute to history's most loyal soldiers, for better or for worse.
