EFF leader Julius Malema and his bodyguard, Adriaan Snyman's attorneys want Magistrate Antoinette Olivier to recuse herself from presiding over their firearm discharge trial in East London. The legal teams of the accused were unhappy with the line of questioning directed at a state witness.
The witness, Samuel Kwata is from the audio-visual company that provided services during the EFF's birthday celebrations in 2018. Malema and Snyman face charges of the illegal possession of a firearm, contravention of the Firearms Control Act, the illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment to persons or property.
