We look at Prince Rupert Drops with the Phantom TMX 7510, demonstrating various optical techniques you may use to look at the various phenomena.

From Brightfield and shadowgraph, to matching refractive index there are many tools in the lighting toolkit. It is important to know the theory, but only practice will bring success.

Through this imaging we discovered phenomena we haven't seen elsewhere, and learnt that there is always improvement to be made. Being able to image the shattering in the glass would be fascinating, but with such fine failure structures, that remains out of our grasp - for now.
