This old-fashioned German recipe is filled with fresh cherries and tastes so good! I add almond extract to the cake batter to raise the cherry flavor throughout the cake. The lightly spiced streusel topping (streusel means "sprinkles" in German) is what makes this cake special. This is a favorite cake in my house and it's gone within a couple of days.
