Most couples will actually get pregnant within six months of trying. You mentioned that you have had an IUD in the past and got it removed in December. You've had two regular periods since then. Chances are that in the next four months or so you should get pregnant. There are a couple of things you can do to help increase the chances that you will conceive. It's good to start tracking your cycles and have intercourse around the time when you're most fertile. The most fertile time is about five days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. Research shows that most couples are successful if they have intercourse two days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. However, most couples don't want to think much about it in the beginning so if you just have intercourse about every two to three days after your period stops then you should have intercourse during your most fertile period. It will also help ensure that the quality of the semen is as good as it can get. If you've tried for six months total, after getting the IUD out, and you haven't gotten pregnant it would be worth talking to your OB/GYN provider and asking them what they think. A woman and a man's health can play a big part in fertility, so they can look at different things and see if there is anything that can be changed or adjusted or decide if further testing is necessary to help you get pregnant. Generally speaking a couple is not considered infertile or is not always given help from the doctor unless they've been trying for 12 months without any contraception. Specifically about the IUD, once it's out, it's out and you can get pregnant. An IUD doesn't affect your body's ability to ovulate. You're going to still ovulate even though you have the IUD and it won't affect your body's ability to ovulate once it's out. If you have intercourse at the right time you could get pregnant.
