Explainable AI (XAI) refers to methods and techniques in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to make the results better understandable for humans. This is especially important in the medical sector, as the basis for health-related and diagnostic decisions needs to have a high reliability and transparency.

In this Video Maria Wimmer, Dimitrios Lenis and David Major present a resource-efficient mammography image classifier and their novel. model agnostic classification interpretation framework which visualizes image regions crucual for the decision of the classifier. Utilizing publicly available mammography data, they compare their visualization frameork with state-of-the-art methods and show favorable, clinically applicable outcomes.
