The two-week inquest, being held in Toowoomba, is examining events that led to a police pursuit of Maddison and a 20-hour siege at a remote farmhouse at Seventeen Mile in the Lockyer Valley, which ended when police shot Maddison dead.

The court also heard new details about Maddison's violent past, including an incident of domestic abuse during which Maddison poured fuel on his victim and fired a gun in the air outside his former partner's home.
