Can you draw in ink without any preliminary sketches? Do you have the muscle memory that allows you to draw a crowd of people from any angle in perfect fish-eye perspective?? No, me neither. But, it's certainly a fun challenge.
I don't have a lot of time to practice drawing these days, but when I get the chance, I like to force myself to sketch without any underlying shapes or pencil "guides." Kim Jung Gi can do this to the extent where he creates entire scenes using straight ink to paper (without any mistakes). Of course it's inappropriate for me to try to emulate the best of the best -- but nevertheless, I think there is value in using this style of drawing as a mental exercise of sorts.
If you're an illustrator, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on the matter. Especially if you're better than me at drawing (which is fairly likely).
Thanks for watching.
