Trump's first impeachment - 2020
Patrick Philbin, a member of President Donald Trump’s legal team, said the House managers, the seven Democrats who are acting as prosecutors in the impeachment trial, do not want to wait a few days to call additional witnesses and obtain more evidence because they are not prepared to make their case. “They don’t think that there is any ‘there there,’ and they want to ram this through now,” Philbin said, speaking against an amendment that would require the Senate to subpoena more witnesses and evidence from the White House. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and remove him from office, or acquitted.
