How can architecture capture the essence of a city?
"Adapting to circumstances is one of the main things, but also the main thing is to keep in mind that you're mainly doing a transformation which is dealing with the happiness of people."
Architecture has the power to boost what cities are and what cities want to be.
"We have so many layers that are inside us, and so many layers that are inside places, that have been happening into places. Because usually places have a strong personality, and sometimes we don't see it."
Yet architects cannot work alone. Citizens should participate.
"There are so many factors to keep in mind we cannot be on top of everything. It's very important to learn, also when you are transforming a place, it's kind of important to understand it first and then be able to make the transformation. I believe in mingling with harmony, is the key to the future."
As people move to cities, new challenges emerge...
"The better cities, the cities of the future, should integrate with some ways the countryside. I think it's very important to have a city which is trying to integrate the countryside."
