You can cycle from Brixton in south London to Westminster on just quiet backstreets and protected cycle lanes, without having to deal with heavy traffic.

The route is a little over four miles and takes just 20 minutes – it's not much slower than going on the fast, busy main roads (mostly thanks to not having to wait at many lights) and is surprisingly direct.
