Beaujolais is perhaps the most misunderstood and all too often under-appreciated wine region of France.
Whilst it’s true that some years ago more than half the crop went to make Beaujolais Nouveau wines, there has since been a seismic shift and now high-quality ‘take me seriously’ styles are the norm. The best wines are not only age-worthy but happily fit in with their highly regarded fine wine neighbours in Burgundy to the north.
In this 45-minute session, Anna Spooner of the Tastings Team will explore the soils, history and styles of the region, looking at some of its most famous but affordable crus, as well as delicious wines for any day drinking.
The wines that Anna will use to bring the topic to life can be found below.
Whilst you do not need the specific wines to join in and enjoy, if you wish to taste along then we recommend that you follow the styles as closely as possible.
