This is now the fourth inflation read that’s come within the Bank of Canada’s upper target of three per cent of inflation as April’s inflation rate clocked in at 2.7 per cent, decelerating from 2.9 per cent in March.
Price declines were the story for people shopping for household furnishings, clothing and footwear, and food inflation also cooled as the price of food purchased at the grocery store slowed to 1.4 per cent annually.
