The Rancho Cordova Police Department is inviting residents to pick up a blue ribbon to tie around a tree as a way to show support in the wake of the deadly shooting of Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Stasyuk. The department and the city will be handing out the blue ribbons at multiple locations beginning Thursday morning. City Hall will offer the ribbons free to the public from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The police department will be open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Ribbons can also be picked up between 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. inside Roses and Bows Florist on Olsen Drive. Multiple Sacramento County Sheriff's Office locations will also offer ribbons based upon open hours of service at those locations. "Once you've tied your ribbon around your tree, take a photo and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #HonorBlue4Mark," read a message from the Rancho Cordova Police Department.
