Behold! A lesser-known gem from deep in Fender's back catalogue, the Esquire Custom! Though the Esquire was originally intended to be a student instrument, it caught on enough that Fender began offering a Custom version in 1959. Like the originals, this 1959 reissue features a AAA rosewood fretboard, a double-bound ash body, and a killer handwound single-coil in the bridge position. Though it only has one pickup, its three-way switch still does a lot to shape your tone! In what would normally be the bridge position, the switch bypasses the tone and volume pots for full throttle, screaming tone. The middle position activates the volume pot for a more controlled, mannered sound, and "neck" position adds in the tone pot for little extra warmth. However, you won't really find yourself missing a neck pickup, because the '58 Tele bridge in this thing roars! It has warm, round bass, broad midrange, and a touch-sensitive high-end that can either scream or cry depending on how hard you play. The large, C-shaped neck is a delight for anyone who loves chunky necks, and the modern 9.5" radius ensures that you can play comfortably all up and down the fretboard. Wildwood Guitars is proud to present Fender's latest, greatest blast from the past: the 1959 Custom Esquire.
