NEW: New Jersey gamer hopped on a flight to Florida to beat a fellow gamer with a hammer over an online dispute.

The victim's stepfather woke up to screams after 20-year-old Edward Kang reportedly broke into the house and started attacking the victim with a hammer.

The victim sustained severe head wounds and was sent to the hospital. He has since been released.

Kang defended his actions, telling police that the victim was a very "bad person online" before asking how much jail time he was facing.

Kang was charged with attempted second-degree m*rder and armed burglary.
