The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute holds a priceless collection of more than 28,000 rare, important and old manuscripts. These manuscripts, dating back centuries, cover a wide range of topics such as Ayurveda, philosophy, Vedas and classical literature. These manuscripts are the heritage of art, culture and literature. Their making and conservation is an art in itself too.
Bhandarkar Institute is not only a library of manuscripts. It is one of the premier research centres in India when it comes to manuscripts. It houses a conservation laboratory for manuscripts. In many ways, we strive to be a shrine of manuscripts and the knowledge that they contain.
We are glad to announce an online courses on “introduction to manuscripts “.
