Antonio Vivaldi Violin Concerto Op.8 No.2 Summer
Together with The Beatles ,Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Antonio Vivaldi's 4 Violin Concertos Op.8 - Le quatro stagioni-The Four Seasons are on the top of the lists of most popular hits of our time and familiar to those who are not regular classical music appasionatos.
Antonio Vivaldi also known as Red Priest, wrote them in 1716-1717 to play at the time with his music pupils-at-Ospedale della Pieta- a Catholic home for abandoned children ,mostly girls whom were born out of a wedlock .To make those concertos more interesting for young girls he used cool sound effects and in every part he even wrote what they should imagine while playing.( in Winter -wind,playing on ice,sliding ,shivering from cold etc)His extraordinary ideas made those concertos very popular among his pupils and not only..He published The Four seasons in 1725 when another famous citizen of Republic of Venice was born -Giacomo Girolamo Casanova.But he published them not in Venice but Amsterdam.
After Vivaldi death in 1741 for many years those concertos were not so well known.
