--------
In this clip, DL Hughley addressed America's history of violence and honoring those who have committed acts of brutality. Using Confederate Army General and the first Grand Wizard of the KKK Nathan Bedford Forrest as an example, Hughley highlighted that the last Confederate monument was built as recently as the 1990s.
The comedian added another example by calling out a statue (that's since been removed) of J. Marion Sims, who's considered the "father of modern gynecology." Hughley informed viewers on Sims performing surgeries on enslaved Black women without anesthesia because he didn't believe Black people felt pain. DL Hughley then related that fact to today's medical biases that have negatively impacted Black people.
