When Artemis 1 launched Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, a handful of USAFA cadets, faculty and staff members were keenly interested in NASA's success. That's because cadets and others conducted important research on behalf of NASA to ensure the safety of astronauts on future missions. The Association of Graduates communications team caught up with some of the key contributors to the research effort prior to launch and produced a video to explain it.
The Orion spacecraft is headed toward the moon, where it will orbit for several days and then eventually return to Earth. The mission is the first portion of the Artemis program that will eventually bring astronauts back to the moon and then eventually to Mars.
