(11 Jan 2017) STARS, DIRECTOR ATTEND 'LA LA LAND' PREMIERE IN PARIS
The cast and creator of "La La Land" attended the film's premiere Tuesday (10 JANUARY) in Paris at the Champs Elysee.
Writer and director Damien Chazelle commented on the reaction to comments Meryl Streep made about U.S. president-elect Donald Trump.
"I am a little embarrassed as American, that we are going to have a president who kind of stoops to that low, but... but I was there that night when Meryl Streep gave her comments and I agree with every single comment she made and I thought it was an absolutely extraordinary speech and... you know, not that I expected anything less from Meryl Streep," Chazelle said.
When asked if he is going to watch the inauguration Donald Trump as United States President, Chazelle said: "No. No, it's too painful."
Ryan Gosling the actor said he was "surprised" to see all that success of La La Land film. "We were just happy to get to make this film. Damien (Chazelle) worked for a very long time to get if off the ground. You know... I love musicals of the fifties, I thought that that was the thing of the past; I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to make one and so, really, that was enough. And then to see the response to the film and obviously to see all these people that I watched work so hard be acknowledged with these awards, it's certainly a wonderful surprise," Gosling said.
"La La Land" opens in France on January 25.
