Senator Foung Hawj (DFL - SD67) announces his re-election in 2020.
"Hello Fellow Eastsiders, friends and supporters,
I take great pride and responsibility in representing the Eastside St. Paul as your State Senator. I believe I have done a notable job for our District and Minnesota, because I've stood firm fighting for the working poor, our struggling families and the middle class.
Despite our divided government in recent years, I have been successful in bringing resources to the Eastside St. Paul especially for the arts and culture, affordable housing, economic development, and capital investment. By collaborating with my colleagues, we increased education funding, preserved health care affordability for 1.2 million Minnesotans, enacted a strong wage theft protection law, and financed Equity Grants to address disparities.
I have fought for Driver's License for All and will continue to do so.
My fellow Eastsiders, our work is not done.
After consulting with many of you and people in the community . I am happy to announce that I will be running for another term in 2020.
I pledge to pursuit making insulin prices affordable. No one should lose their life because they can’t afford their medications. I will continue to fight for equity and work on policies to support small businesses and opportunities for our youth as well as public safety and the improvement of our roads and bridges. You can count on my commitment to seek solutions for climate change, clean air and clean water and promoting conservation including our native pollinators and other endangered species.
I will do my very best in representing you at the senate. As always, I will continue to engage the people of the East Side St. Paul unselfishly, and welcome your family to our state capitol.
Thank you, and I look forward to your support in 2020!"
