Across their history, the Sith Order attempted to corrupt the will of nature and bend it to their will, so that they could have full control over all aspects of life. In this search for control, one young Sith Lord named Belia Darzu discovered a dark power called Mechu-Deru Vitae that allowed her to turn the flesh of living beings into mechanical parts.
Once this dark technique was used for enough time on a living being, it would convert all of their organs and flesh to machine, turning them into a horrifying techo-beast which could be controlled by the dark side user.
This technique was actually used on Jar Jar Binks during the Clone Wars, after he was infected by a dark side curse by long dormant, ancient droids, causing him to slice Anakin’s arm off.
