A playthrough of Nintendo's 1986 NES game, Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong was an important title for Nintendo's rise to prominence in gaming. It wasn't their first game, but it was Miyamoto's first (with Gunpei Yokoi working beside him), it introduced the world to Mario for the first time (though he wasn't yet named Mario), it got Nintendo sued by Universal for copyright infringement (Universal lost), and it was a huge jumpstart for the then fledgling Nintendo of America. Calling it important would be a bit of an understatement.

Anyways, who doesn't know this classic in one form or another? The story was super simple but effective (gorilla grabs girl, guy must save her) but it was a big move forward for arcade storylines, and the gameplay broke molds all around to create something super addictive.

Even though the NES version was pared down because of memory constraints (a stage is missing), it was a pretty impressive port of a great arcade classic.
