The pterygopalatine fossa is a pyramidal space located between the maxillary bone anteriorly, the pterygoid process posteriorly and inferior to the orbital apex.
The contents of the pterygopalatine fossa are:
- the pterygopalatine ganglion;
- the maxillary nerve
- and the third part of the maxillary artery.
