This elderly gentleman sustained fractures of the left maxilla or upper jaw and lateral orbit. However, this went undiagnosed by his local treating physician. He came to us with a persisting paresthesia or numbness in the cheek region after two days. CT scan revealed the fracture and incarceration of the infra Orbital nerve. Dr. Sunil Richardsons and his team operated under general anesthesia and decompressed the nerve. This was done from within the mouth to avoid facial scars. The entire face can be reached from within the mouth, eyes or nose and not leave an obvious scar.
