A few years ago I found a great guitar lesson for George Benson's Breezin' on Youtube, the only problem was that the video was in Thai! Needless to say I wasn't really able to follow along the whole time, but I always really liked the solo that the guy played in the video, so I thought I would transcribe it on my beautiful Ibanez jazz guitar and share it with everyone. I made a few changes here and there to adapt it a little to my style of playing, and I also included some chord changes along with some substitutions at the end. Hope you like it!
If you don't want to learn the whole song note for note I think you can still get lots of great improvisational ideas from the tab I've written out. Although Breezin' is a I, VI, ll, V progression, many of these soloing concepts will apply to a standard jazz ll, V, I as well. There are some excellent major scale (or ionian mode), pentatonic blues scale (major and minor), and arpeggio soloing ideas in this version, so try some of it out and see what works for you.
